Meet Our Builder
Darrell Trickett is the owner\designer\builder here at Rock City Dog Crates. He has been working with wood for, well, let's just say a long time now. He is bringing his vast woodworking experience to the world of furniture style designer dog crates in Central Arkansas.

Darrell lives in Little Rock with his wife and two grown kids. He is also a certified dog lover, this even includes Lucy, our very own scoundrel of a fur-baby. And yes, she has a Rock City Dog Crate of her very own. He'd be very pleased to design and build a crate for your loyal pet that will look at home in your home.

FAQ's
Tell me more about the design process.
Since all of our crates are one-of-a kind, we will communicate regularly with you until we have nailed down all of the options for your crate such as size, door style, feet, colors, etc.
Once all has been agreed upon, we request a 50% deposit to begin the building process. When the deposit is received, we will begin work on your custom dog crate. Once work has begun, the deposit is non-refundable. Balance is due upon pick-up or delivery.
How do I determine the correct size crate for my dog?
Sizes are determined according to the size and weight of your dog. We can discuss sizing during the design process. If your dog is borderline on the weight\size recommendations, we highly recommend going up to the next size crate.
Can you build a crate into a larger piece of furniture like a cabinet, bench or entertainment center?

Yes, we can make all of that happen. Give us a simple drawing or picture of your ideas, and we can work up a quote for you.
Is delivery available?
Yes, delivery is available in the Greater Little Rock area. Fees are based on distance from our location. Delivery cost will be quoted at time of order.
Do you ship out of your area?
We are currently working with a transportation company to offer shipping to the 48 contiguous states. We will update this info when this argreement has been solidified.
What is delivery time once I order?
Currently, we can deliver in 2-3 weeks after we have received the order approval and deposit has been received. Specific delivery times can be discussed at time of order.
What are your crates made of?
We use mostly pine, with other wood species available if requested. We can use any hardwood species you would like. Due to the cost of hardwood, there is an up-charge for this.
We also use wood glue, screws and other common furniture construction materials. The crate bars are regular metal construction rebar.
What paint and stain colors are available?
Paint: We prefer and highly recommend the Sherwin-Williams Emerald line of paint from one of their stores. This is their top of the line paint, and delivers exceptional performance. You may choose any of their current colors. However, at your request we will use Behr or Varathane paint.

Stain: We can use any available Minwax or Varathane oil base stain color, available at Home Depot or Lowe's. We do not use water-based or gel stains. We also use a high quality polyurethane over all stained surfaces. We recommend a satin polyurethane finish over stained wood.
Can you match paint and stain colors to my existing furniture?
We will be glad to make a close match any existing paint\stain sample. However, an exact match cannot be guaranteed.
Do you charge sales tax?
Yes, we collect sales tax on any and all items delivered in the state of Arkansas. We can discuss sales tax on crates shipped outside the state during the design process.
